Wooden Figures at Yatenga

Wooden Figures at Yatenga

These colorful wooden figures are African/French and made by a man from Burkina Faso. Whenever I eat at Yatenga with my dad I'm always craning my neck to look at them all. I just love how colorful and various they are. They literally line almost every wall of the restaurant on high shelves near the ceiling and I am told they are meant to depict a time when the people there began to abandon their own traditional clothing for colonial Western clothing. Today I noticed that some of them have cameras hanging from their necks and most of them are men.

I also noticed a for sale sign up on two of them today and I really want one, but I'm gonna have a heck of a time trying to figure out which. LOL!
